Arlington crash kills man trying to help stranded driver, police say
ARLINGTON, Texas - One person is dead, and two others are in the hospital after a crash in Arlington early Saturday morning.
Police were called to N. Watson Road, near State Highway 360, around 1 a.m. when an SUV struck another vehicle and multiple pedestrians.
When officers arrived, they found a 31-year-old man and a 42-year-old woman on the ground. A 34-year-old woman in a BMW X1 had to be extricated from her vehicle.
All three were taken to the hospital. The man was pronounced dead. Both women are said to be in critical condition.
Investigators say a 34-year-old woman in a 2016 Hyundai Veloster lost control of her vehicle and went off the roadway and called family members to help her.
The 31-year-old man came to the area in a 2004 GMC Yukon and parked in the right lane. While he and the 42-year-old woman were out of their vehicles and trying to connect a tow cable from the Yukon when the BMW came into the area at high speeds and hit both people and the Yukon.
Arlington police are continuing to investigate the crash.
Investigators have not ruled out if alcohol may have been a factor in the crash.
No charges have been filed at this time.
