Allen Eagles win another state championship
The Allen Eagles have won another state championship, defeating last year’s 6A division 1 champs, lake Travis, with a tight final score of 35-33.
A lot was on the line as the Allen Eagles took on the lake Travis Cavaliers at AT&T Stadium.
Tiffany Sene had a son on the team, playing for the championship in his senior year.
“It was hard to sleep last night. It really was.” she said. “The last two years we've lost in the final four. We've been knocked out in the final four. So to make it to the championship for his final year, we couldn't have asked for a (better) final year experience for him.”
At the final whistle, the Eagles had an undefeated season under their belt.
“I'm more proud than, I can't put words to it.” said parent, Wilson Thomas
Some have been waiting for this moment their whole high School career, or in Shawana Perkins case, most of her son Maurice's life.
“I mean I can't even explain what it means to me right now. We're so excited. We're so happy for him. This day has been, we've been waiting for this day since he was a baby basically.” said Perkins.
