EL PASO, Texas - There are at least 20 deaths reported after a shooting at a shopping center that included a Walmart in El Paso Saturday morning.
Police had earlier received reports of multiple shooters near the Cielo Vista Mall, but later confirmed during a press briefing that they have ruled out multiple shooters, and they have one person in custody.
Texas Governor Greg Abbott said that 20 people died in the shooting, and more than two dozen others were injured.
Mexico President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador says three Mexicans were killed in the shooting.
Gov. Abbott called the shooting "a heinous and senseless act of violence," and said the state had deployed a number of law enforcement officers to the city.
He also said this shooting will be investigated as a hate crime.
The suspect has been identified as a white male in his 20s, police confirmed. The Associated Press is reporting that the suspect is 21-year-old Patrick Crusius.
Jeff Leach, who is the Texas State Representative for District 67, released a statement saying Crusius graduated from Plano Senior High School in 2017, and lives in Allen.
The ATF and other law enforcement agencies have been at an Allen home for hours, and will remain there overnight.
Agents are still waiting for a search warrant, but have entered the home.
El Paso Police Chief Greg Allen confirmed that the 21-year-old suspect is from Allen, but would not name the suspect.
Allen also said authorities are looking at an online manifesto to determine if it belonged to the suspected gunman.

There were at least 1,000 people inside the Walmart when the gunman opened fire.
Authorities believe most of the victims were inside the Walmart when the shooting happened.
The suspect was taken into custody without any shots fired by authorities.
The arrest wasn't far from the Walmart where the shooting happened.
A woman recorded video that appears to show the gunman being arrested.
She said at the time that she didn’t know the mass shooting happened, but knew something looked wrong.
Police said the arrest happened on the same street where the video was shot.
“I looked up and officers, non-uniform officers, got up with their weapons drawn,” Ayla Pequeno said. ”I didn’t see them grab the suspect, only later I saw one of the officers walking him in handcuffs. Then they were looking in the Honda that was there.”

“At the time, wasn’t aware that there was an active shooter, but I said this was very out of the ordinary for El Paso, so I grabbed my phone and started recording,” she added.

“When I heard the news break I said I can’t believe this is happening in my city. Some place I lived my whole life, a place that myself and a lot of people I know would consider to be very safe,” Pequeno said. “We say this would never happen in my city. It happens in large places like California and other large cities like that, but you never really think it can happen where you are.”
A University Medical Center of El Paso official says one of 12 people who were rushed to the hospital after the attack on a shopping complex has died.
Ryan Mielke, a hospital spokesman, says all of the victims suffered traumatic injuries in Saturday's attack at or near the Cielo Vista Mall. He didn't give any details about the victims, including the one who died.
There were 11 other victims being treated at Del Sol Medical Center, according to hospital spokesman Victor Guerrero. He said those victims ages ranged from 35 to 82.
Police Sgt. Enrique Carrillo told reporters Saturday that the attack at or near the Cielo Vista Mall had ended, and there was no longer danger to the public.
Police spokesman Robert Gomez says investigators are still trying to determine what happened during Saturday's attack. He says multiple people were shot, but he didn't say how many.
The mall complex is near Interstate 10 and on El Paso's east side.
ATF Dallas went to the scene to assist.
