2 killed in overnight crash in Fort Worth
FORT WORTH, Texas - Two people were killed overnight on Interstate 30 the east side of Fort Worth.
The fatal crash happened just after midnight Monday.
Police said the victims were hit by at least one vehicle in the eastbound lanes of I-30 near Cooks Lane and Chase Parkway.
We can only show a few images from the crash scene that involved 3 vehicles and, according to police, was especially difficult to witness.
"We do know we had two bodies that were in the freeway is very sad, very sad. What the detectives are needing to know is how those two deceased individuals got there," said Fort Worth Police Officer Buddy Calzada.
A man and a woman were killed, the man has not been identified at this time, the Tarrant County Medical Examiner identified the other as 44-year-old Melissa Lauman.
The crash scene vehicles included a pick-up truck, a Cadillac SUV and a Harley Davidson motorcycle.

The drowning happened across the water from Panther Island Pavilion, where NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal was hosting his Bass All-Stars Music Festival.
Police say they're certain the deceased man was operating the motorcycle, but they are unclear if the deceased woman was his passenger or from one of the other vehicles.
"What we believe is that truck may have hit something in the roadway or that bridge pillar or median. We also know we have this Cadillac involved. We need to know how and when this Cadillac may have been involved. We also have a motorcycle and we need to know who were the occupants or who was riding that motorcycle. Was it those two individuals, was it one? We’re trying to put this all together," said Calzada.
All eastbound lanes of I-30 in that area were closed for over six hours.
Hours after the scene was cleared and police worked to sort out the occupants of each vehicle they are still trying to determine what caused the initial crash.
Thus far the two people hospitalized have been unable to communicate with investigators.
They are asking for help from anyone who may have seen what happened at the time of the crash along I-30 near Cooks Lane and Eastchase Parkway around 12:30 a.m. Monday morning.
"What we need is other witnesses that may not have called in. Please reach out to our detectives," said Calzada.
