A suspected drunk driver is now charged for the deaths of a Good Samaritan and another driver.

Police said the accident that happened around 2:45 a.m. Friday near the Jupiter Road exit on Interstate 635 in Garland.

Mikayla Prince, a 20-year-old from Arkansas, reportedly lost control of her Mitsubishi Galant and hit a barrier in the westbound lanes of the freeway. She and her passenger got out of the car.

A Good Samaritan, 20-year-old James Fofanah from Dallas, stopped and crossed the highway to help after the initial crash.

That's when police say 23-year-old Ashlyn Hurley of Rockwall slammed into Fofanah and the other driver.

Police say Hurley's Toyota Camry caught fire and was treated for minor injuries. Both Fofanah and Prince died at the scene. Prince's passenger escaped the impact and survived.

Police suspect Hurley was drunk. She was treated at the hospital and then taken to the Garland jail. She’s now charged with intoxication manslaughter.

Sean Williams says he was a foster parent to Fofanah several years ago when he was 16 years old. He says Fofanah always had a compassionate spirit. He recalled how neighbors would ask his boys for help with tasks."

"James was always the first one, "Williams recalled. "He didn't want money. He didn't want anything but to help. That was his nature."

All westbound lanes at Jupiter Road were closed for the investigation. Traffic was backed up for most of the morning rush hour.
