2 dead in shooting outside Denton apartment complex

Denton police are looking for "multiple suspects" connected to a double murder in an apartment complex parking lot, but investigators insist there's no threat to the public.

While they have no suspect description, police said this was not a random act of violence.

Officers were called to the Ridgecrest Apartments Thursday at 10 p.m. When they arrived, a man and woman were found shot to death inside a car.

"I was kind of scared," said Alli Rodriquez, who lives in the apartment complex.

Rodriquez said she was home at the time, but did not hear the gunshots.

Even so, hearing the news that two people were murdered in her apartment complex rattled her.

"I just really don’t expect to hear anything like that around me that close," she added.

Denton police haven’t released many details in the hours after the shooting.

They believe there may be multiple suspects, but have not released any descriptions.

Denton murder suspect arrested in Oklahoma

A man accused of a fatal stabbing in Denton Friday night was arrested in Oklahoma City Saturday morning.

Police said the attack does not appear to be random, but they didn’t reveal a possible motive.

There are also very few details about the victims. Their identities have not been released and police did not say whether they were tenants at the Ridgecrest Apartments.

Rodriquez said this is the first time she’s heard of any major problems in this area.

"I don’t hear any noise complaints. There’s never really anything going on down here," she said.

But Thursday’s murder now has her a little on edge.

"A little bit, but that’s just kind of the world we live in now," she added.
