19-year-old accused of stabbing Lyft driver in Frisco

Frisco police arrested a 19-year-old suspect who allegedly stabbed his Lyft driver in the neck and stole the man’s car.

It happened just before 6 p.m. on Monday at the Legends at Legacy apartment complex on Legacy Drive.

Officers found the Lyft driver in the parking lot with a deep cut on his neck. Despite his serious injury, he was able to tell them that the suspect was his customer.

Several hours later, officers spotted the Lyft driver’s stolen car while patrolling near the intersection of Highway 423 and Highway 380.

They tried to pull the vehicle over, but the driver took off.

Officers from several different departments helped to chase and capture the suspect, who was identified as 19-year-old Antwain Williams of Frisco.

An Arlington man pleaded guilty to kidnapping a Lyft driver at gunpoint, forcing him to drive over 1,300 miles to Florida as part of a ransom plot targeting a social media influencer.

Williams is now facing charges of aggravated robbery and evading arrest. He also had an outstanding warrant for allegedly encouraging a child to perform a sex act.

The victim was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. He’s reportedly now stable, thanks to the quick actions of the responding officers.

"We are very fortunate for the quick and skilled response of our officers, members of the Frisco Fire Department, and the hospital’s medical team which clearly saved the life of this victim," said Frisco Police Chief David Shilson.

A Lyft spokesperson said they have permanently banned Williams from the platform and are helping police with the investigation.
