1 killed in fiery wrong-way crash on I-45
WILMER, Texas - One person was killed and another was seriously injured early Friday morning in a fiery, wrong-way crash on Interstate 45 in Wilmer.
It happened around 4:30 a.m. near Wintergreen Road. A car that was going southbound in the northbound lanes of traffic slammed into another car.
The crash was so violent that one of the vehicles landed upside down and the other on its side up against an 18-wheeler. One car also caught on fire.
The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office originally said two people died in the crash. In a later update, the department said the second victim was taken to the hospital via air ambulance. There's no word on that person's condition.
That section of northbound I-45 was shut down for an investigation until about 8 a.m.
