Texas AG rejects questioning on voter fraud investigation
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton again refused to answer questions from U.S. House Democrats about a disgraced state investigation into possible illegal voters.
A report that was later retracted by the Texas Secretary of State ordered counties to review a list of 58,000 registered voters who might not be citizens.
It was quickly dismissed after further investigation revealed many people on the list, if not most, were in fact citizens.
Democrats believe the whole episode was an effort by Republicans in Texas to discourage Hispanic and immigrant voters.
The report resulted in a federal lawsuit against the state.
Paxton applauded the House Democrats for being concerned about election fraud but he refused their demands for “privileged and confidential information related to ongoing voter fraud investigations.”
