Contagious pink eye 'superbug' spreading around Houston

Think before you touch your eyes! A new "super bug" pink eye is torturing Houstonians.  Patients say it hurts twice as bad and lasts twice as long as typical pink eye. Doctors' offices in Houston are full of patients infected by this bug.

One Houston doctor, Dr. Allan Panzer, tells us he usually sees pink eye once or twice a month, but lately, he's seen as many as four patients a day with this unusual strain of viral pink eye. Some are suffering two to three weeks.

HOW TO TREAT IT: The doctor said that treating this pesky superbug can involve two treatment options. If you have the virus, doctors can usually kill it using surgical betadine.  However, if it has permeated the skin, you may need the medication called Zirgan.
