Suspect arrested for 2012 murder of Arlington couple

Arlington police have arrested a teen in the 2012 murders of a Vietnamese couple.

Long Nguyen, 72, and Huong Ly, 63, were found dead in June 2012 as the result of a homicide, but police weren’t able to ID a suspect and the investigation went cold.

At the time of the crime, police were able to collect DNA evidence from a marijuana cigarette found at the scene. It didn’t match anyone in the database in 2012, but police did get a hit in Oct. 2015.

The suspect, now an adult, was located and arrested on a parole violation and a DNA sample was taken. The second sample also matched the cigarette.

Arlington police got an arrest warrant on Tuesday for capital murder for the suspect, 20-year-old Willie Guillory, who was 16 at the time of the murders.

"The meticulous crime scene processing that occurred highlights how important every little detail is in a significant crime scene and the role of DNA testing that has afforded us this opportunity to bring much needed closure to the victim's family," said Arlington Police Chief Will Johnson in a statement.

The suspect remains jailed with a bond of $250,000.
