Students arrested in Grand Prairie, Fort Worth for gun-related incidents
GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas - A middle school student in Grand Prairie was arrested because of a social media threat.
Police and school officials said the post on Instagram included photos of weapons and someone holding a gun. The caption said Reagan Middle School students should stay home.
Security was increased at the school and all other Grand Prairie ISD campuses.
Police also arrested two students after a handgun and ammunition were found at Northwest High School in far northwest Fort Worth.
The students were reported to a school resource officer. Other students had seen photos of them with a gun posted on social media. Officials there said one student brought the gun on campus intending to sell it to the other.
Police did not release the names of the students in either case. The suspect in Grand Prairie is a juvenile. One of the two suspects in Fort Worth is an adult but he has not yet been formally arraigned and charged.
