New sign installed for Dallas school with Confederate name

New signs are being installed at three Dallas elementary schools after their names were changed due to their confederate ties.

A sign reading Mockingbird Elementary was put up on Stonewall Jackson Elementary School on Monday, with the name change officially going into effect in July.

Dallas ISD tweeted out photos of the work and said district staff have been working hard to create signs for schools with new names.

The board voted last year to change the name of three schools named after Confederate leaders.

William Cabell will be Chapel Hill Preparatory School and Robert E. Lee will be renamed Geneva Heights.
