Man killed, child hurt in South Dallas shooting

A man was killed and a child was injured in a shooting and car crash in Dallas.

Police said it happened around 11 p.m. Sunday on Wahoo Street, which is in a neighborhood south of Fitzhugh and Haskell avenues. Someone opened fire on a car and riddled it with bullets.

The driver was hit in the neck. He tried to drive home and crashed into his house, police said.

The man was taken to the hospital where he died. He has been identified as 33-year-old Cliffton Norton.

Norton's 8-year-old son, Kar-dia, was also inside the car and was shot in the leg. He is being treated at Children’s Hospital.

Police have not released any details about a suspect. They also haven't said anything about the motive for the shooting.
