Lowest Greenville businesses collect fans for seniors
DALLAS - Each week on Connections FOX 4 profiles a group or program reaching out to underserved communities. This week two dozen businesses in the Lowest Greenville area of Dallas are collecting donations.
Organizers were out Saturday collecting box fan donations and cash to help keep senior citizens cool in the summer heat. The donations will be turned over to Adult Protective Services.
“Honestly, this is a big deal in Austin. They've been doing for many, many years and they were inspired to do it. Got a lot of support from the city as well as other places that knew about it and really wanted to kick this off and see what we could do to help the elderly people in the time of the hot summer,” said Sammy Mandell with the Lowest Greenville Collective.
The drive ended with a celebration at the Truck Yard.
