Hit-and-run driver kills North Texas mother of six
A Dallas family is hoping someone will come forward with information to catch the hit and run driver who killed their mom.
Charity Orji was walking from a wedding reception in far northeast Dallas on Sunday about 11:30 p.m. when a car jumped the curb -- hitting her and another man. Orji died and the man was seriously hurt.
"It's just painful knowing that someone can do something like this and not stop and keep going,” Jeanne Martin, sister-in-law.
Orji was a mother of six who moved to North Texas with her husband from Nigeria to find a better life for their family.
"A truck comes from out of nowhere, there's four of them but three are in the front. Her daughter is the back. From out of nowhere this vehicle comes and just knocks them down keeps going,” Martin said, adding that Orji's 18-year-old daughter escaped the impact.
Friends and family have been to the spot several times -- a narrow path leading to the driveway of an event center on Forest Lane near Plano Road. But they still have no answers.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Dallas police.
