Trackdown: Help find Timothy Stooksberry's killers
This week, Dallas police need help to track down three men behind a brazen mid-day killing in the parking lot of a busy Northeast Dallas strip center.
The murder happened five months ago, but no one has come forward to give police the names of the suspects.
Police and detectives returned to the strip center at 635 and Ferguson this week for a different reason other than the murder that happened in May.
“635 and Ferguson is an area very heavy in drug activity,” explained Dallas PD Homicide Det. Tonya McDaniel. “But we always come back to the scene and canvas the area, see if we can get that one person to just give us the information we need.”
McDaniel needs information about 53-year-old Timothy Stooksberry's May 3 murder. He was shot to death in his silver SUV at 2 n the afternoon on a Wednesday.
“Three black males approach his vehicle,” McDaniel said. “One gets in on the passenger side. Two walk up on the driver’s side, and clearly one is upset with Mr. Stooksberry. A black male in a white tank top is clearly upset by his gestures that he was making. I don’t know what the argument was about. I wish I did know.”
After the argument, Stooksberry left the strip center. But about ten minutes later, he returned.
“You can see someone about to approach his car, but they stop. And then that’s when shots are fired,” McDaniel said. “From one of the shots on the surveillance camera, you can see everybody jump. And that’s how you know that the shots have been fired towards Mr. Stooksberry.”
Stooksberry’s widow, Amy, says he was a 32-year postal employee and a father of three. She says a hole remains in her heart and life since her husband’s murder.
“This happened a week before my son was to graduate from A&M and commissioned the next day into the Army as a second lieutenant,” she said. “It was so bittersweet.”
Like Det. McDaniel, Amy feels someone knows the three guys who approached her husband, especially the man in the white tank top style t-shirt.
“There were people out there I know would be great witnesses if they would just come forward, cooperate and help us out with this,” the detective said.
