Firefighters extinguish fire in Downtown Dallas apartment tower
DALLAS - Firefighters put out a fire Thursday morning in the bottom floor of Downtown Dallas apartment tower that produced lots of smoke.
The two-alarm fire at the Mosaic Dallas on N. Akard Street started around 11 a.m. Thursday. Heavy smoke could be seen coming from the high-rise building.
Dallas Fire-Rescue said the fire appears to have started in a restaurant kitchen on the first floor. No one was hurt.
Dallas Area Rapid Transit police said the rail lines in the area are experiencing delays because the fire is near the Akard Station.
No trains are going through downtown and passengers are being loaded onto shuttle buses to go between the Victory, West End, Deep Ellum and Pearl/Arts District stations.
