Dog missing after car crash found injured but expected to recover
RICHARDSON, Texas - After a two-city search, a lab mix has been found in Richardson after she went missing during a car crash that left her owner seriously injured.
"Daisy" or "Daisy Mae" was located by volunteers with McKinney-based animal rescue group Mutts and Mayhem.
She'd been missing since Tuesday when her owner's car was struck by a big rig eastbound on the George Bush Turnpike at the ramp to southbound 75.
The driver and passenger were pulled from the vehicle, but paramedics say there was no sign of the 11-month-old pup.
People in Plano and Richardson were put on alert for the missing dog.
Searchers located Daisy Sunday in tall brush with what appeared to be a fractured pelvis and femur. They said her leg was swollen to twice its normal size, rendering her unable to walk and find help on her own.
Mutts and Mayhem said Erica Cruz, Daisy's owner, asked them to care for Daisy temporarily while she recovers.
