Denton County child died from the flu, health officials say
DENTON, Texas - A child in Denton County has died from the flu.
Denton County Public Health officials confirmed the first pediatric influenza death for the season but did not release any additional details.
“Losing a child in our community to influenza is incredibly difficult, and this family remains in our thoughts,” said Dr. Matt Richardson, DCPH Director.
The county’s public health director reminded people that there is still flu active and the best way to avoid it is to get vaccinated.
People should also take precautions like washing their hands and staying home when they are sick to protect others.
