A company is apologizing after a mural honoring military veterans on the side of a wall in Deep Ellum was painted over.

People took to the Deep Ellum Community Watch Page on Facebook over the weekend to voice their frustrations after the mural disappeared just a few days before July Fourth.

The mural depicted soldiers with an American flag behind them. It had been painted on the side of The Green Room Bar and Grill. Now, it's only a black wall.

“I have family that's in military. I'm personally not in military, but I have respect for it,” said resident Ray Blau. “Our soldiers, people who really put their life on the line. For them to come home and somebody to basically disrespect them, I think it’s really not a good thing."

The CEO of Westdale Property Management released a statement saying “We recognize and admit our error in judgement and wished to fix our mistake by offering to pay to replace the original artwork."
