Dallas Police release sketch of 2nd transgender woman found dead in a week
DALLAS - Dallas police are really hoping that a sketch will help them identify a transgender woman who was found dead this past week.
The victim’s body was found in White Rock Creek on Saturday. Police described her as a black female who was born a man, who was about 5 feet 3 inches tall and about 130 pounds.
Without a positive identification, police are having a hard time moving forward with the case.
At Wednesday night’s LGBT Task Force Meeting at Dallas City Hall, police met with members of the LGBT community to talk about how to work together.
“We aren’t disposable. Our lives have meaning. Every one of those girls that has been killed their life had meaning and they didn’t deserve to die,” said Leslie McMurray, a transgender advocate.
The unidentified victim was the second transgender woman found dead within a week. The first was 26-year-old Carla Flores-Pavon, who was found strangled inside her North Dallas apartment last week.
Detectives said they are working on several leads but so far no one has been arrested. Neighbors with security cameras are being urged to review their video.
The Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office has not yet determined how the second woman died. Right now it is being investigated as an unexplained death. Police are not certain that it is related to the first.
Crime Stoppers is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.
