Dallas bar guard shot by suspected car burglar
DALLAS - An armed security guard at a Dallas bar was shot after catching a man breaking into his car.
It happened around 12:30 a.m. at the Hidden Door bar off Bowser Avenue, near the Dallas North Tollway and Lemmon Avenue.
Police said one of the security guards who was standing at the door of the bar spotted someone trying to break into his Ford Mustang just a few feet away from the entrance. He went over to confront the suspect and that’s when he got shot.
The victim’s family did not want to share his name but told FOX 4 he was shot in the shoulder. They said he is doing well in the hospital. He even called his uncle from the hospital to ask him to lock up his car.
The guard has reportedly worked at Hidden Door for about six months. He also works at Round Up, another bar just a couple blocks away.
Family members said although he does carry a gun, he has never had to use it. Other employees said they’ve never had an issue like this before.
Police are still searching for the man responsible for the shooting. They only have a vague description of him and plan to review video from surveillance cameras.
