Chain-reaction crash on Central Expressway in Dallas kills one person
DALLAS - One person was killed, another arrested after Dallas police say a drunk driver caused a chain-reaction crash on Highway 75.
Just before 11:30p.m. Sunday night, police say a 25-year-old driver, believed to have been drunk, crashed into another vehicle in the southbound lanes of 75 near Mockingbird Lane. That vehicle hit a wall, and a passenger who was not wearing a seatbelt was ejected. Paramedics took that passenger to Baylor Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
Police say the drunk driver then spun out and struck another vehicle. Four more vehicles were also involved in separate accidents, forcing the closure of the freeway.
The suspected drunk driver was also taken to the hospital where he was placed under arrest. Other people involved in the chain-reaction crash were injured, but are expected to survive. The crash remains under investigation.
