SMU basketball to play Georgetown in '18-'19, '19-'20
SMU will play one of college basketball’s most storied programs in the upcoming season.
Jon Rothstein of FanRag Sports reported on Tuesday that SMU reached an agreement to play a home and home series with Georgetown. The Mustangs will travel to Washington D.C. in the fall before the Hoyas come to Dallas in the 2019-2020 season.
The Mustangs have already announced that they will compete in the 2018 Cancun Challenge. They will host Southern Mississippi and Western Carolina at Moody Coliseum before facing Bradley and either Penn State or Wright State in Cancun.
SMU had a disappointing end to its 2017-2018 season, losing 10 of its last 13 games to finish 17-16 on the year. The team will be without its best player, Shake Milton, next season. Milton was drafted in the second round of last week's NBA draft.
Georgetown struggled too in its first year under Patrick Ewing, the former Hoya star. The team went 15-15 and 5-13 in Big East play.
The date for the game has yet to be announced.
