Diggins-Smith, Cambage lead Wings to 78-70 win over Dream
ATLANTA (AP) - Skylar Diggins-Smith scored 12 of her 24 points in the fourth quarter and Liz Cambage had 14 points, 14 rebounds and four blocks to help the Dallas Wings beat the Atlanta Dream 80-70 on Saturday night.
Kayla Thornton also scored 14 points for the Wings (2-2).
Thornton's jumper midway through the first quarter gave Dallas a 12-10 lead and the Wings never again trailed. They opened the second quarter with an 11-2 run, including five points from Cambage, to take a 13-point advantage and went into the break with a 39-31 lead.
Atlanta used a 9-2 spurt - capped by Brittney Sykes' 3-pointer - to pull within two points with two minutes left in the third quarter, but would get no closer. Diggins-Smith answered with a pull-up jumper and, after a the Wings got a stop on the other end, hit two free throws to make it 54-48.
Angel McCoughtry led the Dream (1-2) with 19 points, and Elizabeth Williams and Tiffany Hayes added 14 apiece.
