CHARLOTTE, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) - Several storms and tornadoes moved through the Carolinas Monday causing damage as strong winds and heavy rain swept across the area.
The National Weather Service issued several tornado watches and warnings Monday afternoon, as well as sever thunderstorm warning. At least four tornadoes were observed in the greater-Charlotte area.
The storms moved on a northeastern path up through South Carolina into North Carolina, leaving plenty of damage in their wake.
The storm activity was heavy in our area from about 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with winds bringing down trees and power lines, and low areas experiencing flooding.
More than 90,000 homes and businesses were reported to be without power on Monday, according to North Carolina Emergency Management.
