Plano park filled with 1,000 flags for Veterans Day

Volunteers with Plano East Rotary are honoring veterans at Oak Point Park in Plano.

SKY4 flew over the group as they planted 1,000 flags at the park on Thursday for Veterans Day. Organizers say it takes a lot of work to plant all of the flags, but it’s nothing compared to the sacrifices made by military members.

“It gives us an opportunity to thank those that serve for us every day and who served in the past and who will serve in the future,” said volunteer Alan Feigenbaum. “We wouldn’t be able to have the democracy we have today without our veterans. We wouldn’t be able to have the lives we have here in the U.S. without our veterans."

Starting Friday there will be a one-hour program at the park for each day of Veterans Day weekend. Those performances are free and will start at 4:30 p.m. each day.
