Texas: The Issue Is - Paxton Acquittal and Reaction

FOX 4's Steven Dial, FOX 26's Greg Groogan and FOX 7's Rudy Koski take a look at Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton's acquittal and what it means for Paxton's future as well as the future of politics in the state.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton's victory tour after being acquitted on all 16 articles of impeachment against him continues on Wednesday when he sits down for an interview with former FOX News host Tucker Carlson.

The interview with Carlson is expected to be posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, on Wednesday according to a post from Paxton.

Collin County GOP chair Abraham George originally said the interview would be released Tuesday.

Paxton teased the interview with Carlson last week prior to the verdict from the Texas Senate.

Mark Davis, the host of The Mark Davis Show on 660 am The Answer, had originally said that the attorney general would appear on his show at 9:05 Wednesday morning, but with the Carlson interview moved back the attorney general will now appear on the show Thursday.

Paxton returned to work on Monday after 4 months of being suspended without pay following his impeachment by the Texas House.

Following his acquittal, Paxton put out a statement calling the trial a "sham" that was "coordinated by the Biden Administration."

He also criticized House Speaker Dade Phelan, saying that "his kangaroo court has cost taxpayers millions of dollars."

The attorney general has been active on social media following his acquittal posing with fans at Sunday's Cowboys game and thanking former president Donald Trump and others for their support.

Donald Trump claims credit for saving Ken Paxton

Paxton and Trump have long been closely aligned, with the Texas attorney general leading a lawsuit to challenge the 2020 presidential election results.

Paxton is still awaiting trial on securities fraud charges from a 2015 indictment.

The case was recently moved from Collin County to Houston.

Paxton has also been under FBI investigation since 2020, although no charges have been files in that case.
