Fort Worth-based American Airlines and Delta Airlines are following United's lead by eliminating most change fees.

American's changes actually give customers credit if they switch to a cheaper flight. The airlines hope the change will get more people flying again.

American and United are also offering free standby for people who want to take a flight to the same destination at a different time of the day.
