DALLAS - One person died and two were hurt when a woman going the wrong way on the Central Expressway in Dallas hit a car head-on.
The crash happened around midnight near the Lovers Lane intersection. Police said the woman was heading northbound in the left southbound lane of the highway.
She hit a car head-on, causing it to spin into other lanes of traffic.
Police said the driver in the car that was hit head-on died at the scene. Another driver involved in the crash suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
The wrong-way driver had to be cut out of her car by firefighters and was seriously hurt.
Police said she was under the influence of alcohol. She will face charges for intoxication manslaughter and intoxication assault.
The names of those involved have not yet been released.
The highway was closed for several hours for an investigation.
